How to Apply Your DTF Transfers
Our transfers are made for ease of use, but proper press technique will give you the best durability and finish.
Follow the steps and pro tips below.
Standard Application Settings
- Temp: 150 °C Cotton & 130 °C Polyester
- Time: 8 seconds or 12 seconds low temp
- Pressure: 3–4 kgf/cm² (43–57 PSI, medium–firm)
- Peel: Hot / Warm / Cold (for best results, peel Warm or cold)
*Warm is when you can place your hand comfortably on the transfer without burning* - Second Press: Repress for 8 seconds after peeling to lock in adhesion and wash durability
Pro Tips & Operator Notes
- Using a Teflon Pillow:
Make sure the press is crushing the pillow by at least half its thickness to apply enough contact pressure. Increase press duration slightly if pressure feels light. - On Jackets & Heavy Workwear:
Thick garments retain heat longer.
Let the transfer cool slightly before peeling....
If the print is too hot to touch, wait.
Peeling while adhesive is still activated may cause lifting or poor adhesion.
- Peeling Technique:
Film supports instant, hot, or cold peel.
Hot and cold peel generally give the cleanest results. - Dry Cloth Method:
Wipe firmly with a clean, dry cloth as soon as you open the press.
This pushes the transfer into the weave and helps adhesion.
Not essential, but good practice. - Second Press (Post-Press):
Always post-press for 8 seconds. This ensures the adhesive makes full contact with the garment texture.
Fabric Suitability
- Suitable for cotton, polyester, poly/cotton blends and synthetics.
- TEST for wet weather garments, heavily treated fabrics, or coated nylons.
- Note: Not all garments are made equal.
Even within the same fabric type, results can vary by brand.
Always test before full production runs.
Aftercare
- Wait 24 hours before first wash
- Wash cold, inside out
- Tumble dry low or air dry
- Do not bleach
- Avoid ironing directly on print
